Padma Bhushan Dr. Faqir Chand Kohli, Former Deputy Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is a university gold medallist from Lahore. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada, completing his post-graduation in the same discipline from MIT.

He worked for three years in North America, in the Canadian General Electric Companies, Ebasco International Corporation, New York, and New England Power System, Boston. Returning to India in 1951, Dr. Kohli began working with the Tata Electric Companies as Chief Load Despatcher, and rose to the position of Deputy General Manager. When TCS was founded way back in 1968, Dr. Kohli was called in to head TCS’s operations. He retired as deputy chairman of TCS in 1996, and currently is a member of its executive committee. Dr.F.C.Kohli has received many honours in India and abroad - In 2002, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to the Indian IT industry. The same year, the Economic Times presented him with the lifetime achievement award.
