November 13, 2003 - Alias®, the world’s leading innovator of 3D graphics technology, was awarded an Oscar® at the Scientific and Technical Awards ceremony of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for its development of Maya ® software, the professional 3D animation and effects package. The Oscar® is the highest award the Academy can bestow, and since 1930, only 40 Scientific and Technical achievements have been recognized with this level of award..
Alias® is the worlds leading developer of award-winning software, support, custom development and training solutions for the film, video, game development, interactive media, industrial design and visualization markets. At the forefront of these solutions lies Maya® software, the worlds leading 3D animation, modeling and rendering tool for the film, broadcast, video, game development, 3D web and location-based entertainment markets. Ever since its launch, Maya has been used in almost every film nominated by the Academy in its Visual Effects category.
Tata Elxsi Limited, by virtue of being a long-standing partner of Alias® and a co-developer of Maya®, was recently presented with a replica of the Oscar statuette by Mr. Paul Cousens, Regional Manager – South Asia Pacific, Alias®.
