At IBC-2007 we are showcasing the following product reference solutions....

Hybrid / IP Set-top Box - Home Networking Ready Solution
The reference design is showcased on the TI Davinci platform. Prominent features include - Broadcast TV and Radio, PVR, Program reminder, Video-on-Demand, IP Telephony, Internet Browser, Multilingual support. Based on open standards, the design offers a modular, scalable and readily portable architecture enabling OEMs to 'pick-and-choose' their offerings - from a rich basket of features - and build differentiated products.

We will also be demonstrating our capabilities in deploying latest technologies like DLNA to meet future home needs - looking at the explosion of digital devices in the home and how best to network these together.

Broadcast Media Player
The Broadcast Media Player (BMP) reference design is a Portable Media Player (PMP) integrated with mobile TV middleware enabling reception, record and playback of DVB-H compliant streams over the air. The framework provides the convenience of carrying digital entertainment on-the-go, including recorded TV shows, downloaded videos, home movies, music and photos. The BMP solution is portable across various platforms.

Mobile TV solution
Tata Elxsi has developed a unique, feature-rich Mobile TV middleware, which enables reception of broadcast TV on a host of portable / handheld devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, laptops and car infotainment systems. This middleware fulfils all the core functionalities of a mobile TV system. The middleware has been successfully tested for CBMS (IPDC) & OMA BCAST compliance.

Broadcast Media player (BMP)

The Broadcast Media Player consists of the Portable Media Player (PMP) framework design on Linux Platform integrated with the DVB-H stack. The BMP provides the convenience to carry digital entertainment on the go, including watching live and recorded TV shows, downloaded videos, home movies, music and photos. The BMP demonstrates the features, robustness and performance of Tata Elxsi's Audio/Video/Image codecs, AV sync Module along with the DVB-H stack. The PMP framework solution and the DVB-H stack can also be readily ported onto other target platforms.
This stack can be provided as an IP with option for integration of any Conditional Access and backchannel. The stack is media player and Operating System agnostic. It may be readily integrated with any media player and ported onto any Operating System.

IP Set-top Box ( IP STB) Reference Solution

The IP-STB reference design, incorporating the latest features available on the TI Davinci platform. Some of the prominent features include - Broadcast TV and Radio, PVR, Program reminder, Video-on-Demand, IP Telephony, Internet Browser, Multilingual support. Additional features to be supported are Home surveillance, Video-conferencing, Wi-fi etc. Based on Open standards, the design offers a modular, scalable and readily portable architecture that allows product manufacturers to 'pick-and-choose' their offerings from a rich basket of features. The STB manufacturers can easily customize the solution, and build differentiated products to address the dynamic and highly competitive market.

DVB-H based MobileTV solutions
MobileTV + DVR – integrated product solution for Laptop.

The Product solution incorporating the TEL DVB-H stack, enables laptops with Mobile Digital TV. It features live TV pause / resume  (Basic PVR), recording and extendable storage. It receives, demodulates and presents to the user, DTV delivered over a  DVB-H wireless broadcast network. This Mobile TV solution  can record live TV for over 3 hours on an MMC, when either connected to or  disconnected from the laptop. It also allows a user to pause and resume live TV viewing. Standalone audio playback is also featured. The solution incorporates a full-fledged DVB-CBMS stack, with full support for ESG and media reception.

MobileTV on PDA – Showcasing Tata Elxsi’s  DVB-H stack & application running on HP iPAQ PDA on Windows® Mobile™ 5.0. This uses Dibcom's DVB-H  USB-dongle for the TV reception.
