was involved in sustenance engineering and feature enhancements for popular
SNMP based network management products over multiple UNIX platforms.
Our client is a leading ISV in network management area based in USA.
SNMP based network management products over multiple UNIX platforms including
IBM, SUN, HP and Silicon Graphics. Some of the features common to all the
products are:
 |
Creation of network maps |
 |
Creation of alarms to monitor network for
hardware faults, protocol problems, excessive errors, load conditions
and other error conditions |
 |
Monitoring and management of network nodes |
 |
Fault tolerant operation by transferring
management responsibilities between the product running on different
nodes |
 |
Logging data to create reports for performance
analysis and planning |
 |
X/Motif based user interface
|
The products use the two standard management information bases (MIBs), namely
MIB-I and MIB-II, as well as most popular proprietary MIBs. They communicate
using SNMP or CMIP over TCP/IP (CMOT) with agents running on network nodes
to collect data about the nodes.
