Payroll Head
We are seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Payroll Head to lead our global payroll operations from India. The role involves overseeing payroll across multiple geographies, ensuring compliance with local laws, maintaining accuracy and transparency in execution, and aligning payroll practices with company policies. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Indian payroll regulations and international payroll management in a multi-country IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
India Payroll:
- Manage end-to-end payroll for all employees in India.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Income Tax, etc.).
- Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and statutory filings.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy and seamless data flow.
- Manage trust-related activities, including Superannuation, Gratuity, and PF Trust investments and accounting.
- Ensure payroll accounting and monthly provisions as per company policy.
Global Payroll:
- Coordinate payroll operations across multiple global offices (US, UK, Europe, APAC).
- Partner with international payroll vendors and local HR teams for timely, compliant payroll delivery.
- Stay updated on international payroll and taxation regulations.
- Support expatriate and shadow payrolls, along with cross-border taxation.
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead a team of payroll professionals and external partners.
- Drive automation, digitization, and continuous process improvement across payroll systems.
- Develop payroll policies and governance frameworks for consistent global standards.
- Provide strategic insights and payroll analytics to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, HR, or related field (MBA/CA preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in payroll management, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- In-depth understanding of Indian payroll compliance and global payroll operations.
- Proficiency with payroll systems like SAP, Oracle, ADP, or Workday.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- High integrity with proven ability to handle confidential information.
- Skilled in project management, vendor negotiation, and governance.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in a mid-to-large-sized IT organization with global operations.
- Exposure to M&A payroll integration and global mobility processes.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
