We are looking for an experienced QA Engineer / Test Engineer to join our Bootloader and DRI engineering team, responsible for validating low-level embedded software and platform components used across connected devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies and test plans for Bootloader, DRI and related platform software.
• Validate device boot-up, firmware loading, recovery and software update processes.
• Test firmware upgrade/downgrade, rollback, recovery and failure scenarios.
• Validate device behaviour across different boot and recovery states.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system and negative testing.
• Develop and maintain automated test cases and test frameworks.
• Analyse test failures, collect logs and perform initial fault isolation/root-cause analysis.
• Reproduce and investigate issues across hardware, firmware, operating system and application layers.
• Work closely with developers to identify, debug and resolve defects.
• Validate software across multiple hardware/device configurations.
• Perform testing of OTA update mechanisms, including interrupted and failed update scenarios.
• Verify boot-time configuration, partitions, images, versioning and upgrade compatibility.
• Test recovery mechanisms and device behaviour following power interruptions, corrupted images and other failure conditions.
• Monitor and analyse device logs, console output and system traces.
• Participate in defect triage and provide clear technical information to development teams.
• Maintain test documentation, test cases, test results and defect reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and automation.

Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Experience in QA/testing of embedded or connected devices.
• Strong understanding of embedded software testing and system-level validation.
• Experience testing Linux-based embedded systems.
• Good understanding of the software/firmware boot process.
• Experience with firmware/software upgrade and recovery testing.
• Experience with test automation and scripting, preferably using Python.
• Good understanding of Linux command line, shell scripting and system logs.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr or equivalent.
• Ability to investigate failures across multiple layers of a system.
• Good understanding of software development and QA methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

• Experience with Bootloaders such as U-Boot or equivalent.
• Experience with Embedded Linux / Yocto / Buildroot.
• Experience with RDK, RDK-V or RDK-B platforms.
• Experience with OTA/FOTA, A/B partitioning and rollback mechanisms.
• Experience testing device recovery mechanisms.
• Knowledge of firmware images, partitions, flash storage and boot configuration.
• Experience with serial/UART console and hardware debugging.
• Familiarity with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and HTTP/HTTPS.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated regression testing.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub/GitLab or similar source-control systems.
• Experience with Jenkins or other CI tools.
• Knowledge of C/C++ is advantageous.
• Experience working with connected consumer devices, set-top boxes, gateways or similar embedded platforms is advantageous.
