Background

Due to the EU Data Act mandated by the European Union and UK regulatory bodies, it became imperative for telecom service providers to ensure that user data for Europe-based mobile subscribers is stored within the European region.

Our client, a prominent telecom service provider, was required to migrate data from a leading Chinese telecom network to a European telecom network database. This regulatory shift aimed to address security concerns and compliance requirements.

To meet these new legal obligations, we leveraged our AI tool, TEDAx, to deploy an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solution, effectively migrating multiple subscriber data footprints between the two operators.

Data Storage & Migration

Challenge

The client, faced significant challenges in ensuring efficient and accurate voice data migration. These challenges included:

  • Compliance with local government regulations and ensuring data security were critical.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely data migration for telecoms.
  • Overcoming delays in receiving accurate data from the Chinese telecom company.
  • Handling the complexity of the data, which included 400 lines of data per subscriber.
  • Data Migrating 3.4-million subscribers within a limited maintenance window.
  • Addressing specific requirements and formats needed for the European network database.

Industry-wide, these challenges necessitate the use of AI and machine learning for improved quality control, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Solution

TEDAx, is a highly customisable ETL tool for data migration for Telecoms, it handles various scenarios and complexities, including different user profiles and service requirements. The approach includes:

  1. Integration with Source: Collect subscriber data
  2. Data Transformation: Convert source data to target data model
  3. Data Loading: Load transformed data and collect migration outcome response
  4. Fail-Safe: Automatic migration and rollback based on schedule and business rules
  5. Operational Effectiveness: Trigger alarms for migration and rollback processes
  6.  Audit Trail: Manage user access and maintain audit logs
