Tata Elxsi proposes a strategic partnership with Telecom Operators to integrate its indigenous connected vehicle platform, TETHERAuto, with telco networks, leveraging the CAMARA network APIs. According to Trans.info, across the EMEA region, the number of cargo thefts increased by almost 700% in 2023, from 13,008 to 103,529 incidents. The total loss from these crimes reached a staggering amount of over €724 million. This is an increase of 163% compared to 2022 and a whopping 627% compared to 2021.
Such incidents highlight the urgent need for a robust connected vehicle solution leveraging low latency high bandwidth communication network. Currently, the In-vehicle Cabin monitoring systems are often compromised by network connectivity issues, leading to delayed responses to incidents thus jeopardizing the safety of drivers, cargo, and fleet operations.
TETHERAuto Cabin Monitoring System(CMS) Use Case leveraging CAMARA QoD
In the use case illustrated above, Fleet operators, can benefit from enhanced video streams, alerts, and uninterrupted service either through subscription/Pay-as-you-go model, enabling the Cabin Monitoring (CMS) service. This enables fleet operators to track driver and passenger emotions, monitor cargo via object detection and geofencing, and ensure uninterrupted service during critical deliveries. Drivers / Fleet Operators not only receive timely alerts of what is happening in the cabin, but when receiving these alerts, the Fleet Operator can quickly subscribe to CMS, enabling them to access the video stream from the Vehicle’s cabin leveraging the Quality on Demand Network API from TETHERAuto. Such mission critical use cases are impossible with public network slice.

Today the platform processes about 150 terabytes of data with a data processing latency of less than 250 milliseconds. By partnering with GSMA and leveraging CAMARA QoD, TETHERAuto aims to further reduce this data processing latency.
