Challenge
The OEM sought a robust connected vehicle platform that could serve as the foundation for current and future connected tractor services. The company needed a solution capable of securely collecting and processing vehicle data from telematics control units (TCUs), integrating with existing field management and enterprise systems, and providing meaningful insights to multiple stakeholders across the value chain. In addition, the platform had to support remote software updates, secure communication protocols, multilingual deployments across international markets, and a scalable architecture that could accommodate future innovations in connected agriculture and AI-driven services.
Solution
Tata Elxsi implemented a comprehensive connected tractor platform powered by TETHERAuto™, enabling seamless communication between tractors and cloud infrastructure. Telematics units on tractors continuously transmit operational and diagnostic data to the platform, where it is processed, stored, and made available to multiple applications. The platform integrates with the OEM's field management ecosystem, mobile applications, and external enterprise systems, creating a connected environment that supports data-driven decision-making and enhanced customer experiences.
The implementation was executed through a structured roadmap. The initial phase established platform connectivity, device onboarding, data ingestion, and visualization capabilities through the OEM portal. Subsequent phases integrated field management applications and mobile solutions, followed by external system integrations including SIM management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services. The platform was further enhanced with firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) capabilities, dealer management functionality, multilingual support, multi-tenancy, production hardening, and security compliance to ensure enterprise-grade readiness
